The current President of the Board of Directors of the FUNSALUD was pablo escandon cusi and he was being appointed last 25 November 2014. He was President of the Board of DIrectors from the period of October 19, 1992 – April 25, 1995.

He was also the chairman for the Competitiveness and Health Promotion Council Foundation. He got his four-year degree at Business Administration from the University of Georgetown, with the studies in Business Management from the Pan American Institute of Business Management or the IPADE. To add, he also chaired various institutions that is being dedicated to the health and culture, among those is the Economic and Development Board of the Universidad Iberoamericana or the FICSAC where he was appointed the president for a span of seven long years. He is also the member of the Governing Board of Universidad Iberoamericana. Cusi was also the member of the Mexican Council of Businessman, and the Board of Directors of Real Turismo and that of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine.

He received the Medal of Honor for Business Merit that was awarded by the National Chamber of Commerce. In the year 2000 the Universidad Iberoamericana give him the BENE MERENTI Recognition. In the year 2001, he was being awarded with Philanthropist Awardee of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and last but not the least, in the years 2003, he was being recognized to be President Vicente Fox for his great contribution in the area of the Heath Sector Reform.

Though he was still young, the population of the Mexico is growing old, which makes the improvement in the health care service the priority for the long term. The sector can represents 5.8% of the GDP with around 2.8% originating from the of the private sector, thus highlighting the fundamental role of the non-government actors play towards providing the services.
